Christmas Festival of Lights at the Grotto is a light and music festival featuring 500,000 lights and 150 holiday music concerts performed in The Grotto's 600-seat chapel. The Grotto is at NE 85th and Sandy Boulevard, Portland. Call 503-261-2400 for more information. Open every day 5-9:30 p.m.

Winter Wonderland at the International is the largest light show in the western United States. Drive on the race track and see 250 Christmas light displays, 40 animated scenes, and the 200 foot tunnel of lights. At the Portland International Raceway: 1940 N Victory Blvd. Exit 306B.

Zoolights is a light display of over 1 million LED lights that transforms the Oregon Zoo into a bright winter wonderland filled with moving sculptures, forests of lighted trees and animal silhouettes. Ride the popular ZooLights train and then enjoy the music, puppet shows, and a gift shop. The Oregon Zoo is located at 4001 S.W. Canyon Road in Washington Park.

Providence Festival of Trees is a display of over 25 trees that are decorated with various Christmas themes. The trees are decorated by volunteers and businesses and then sold. The money raised from the sale of the trees is donated to Providence Hospital to support cancer patients.

The Oregon Ballet Nutcracker is a Christmas ballet story that children and adults both love. Tickets cost $27.00 or more. The show is performed at the Keller Auditorium on Market and Clay between 2nd and 3rd in downtown Portland.

Christmas Ship Parade is an evening parade of ships on the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. About 60 boats decorate with lights and sail the rivers. Park along Columbia or Willamette River to view the ships. It's free to watch, but dress warm so you can sit in your car to watch the ships sail past.

Tuba Christmas is a concert of about 200 tubas in the Portland Courthouse Square in downtown Portland. You can listen to the sounds of the tubas and sing with the other visitors. You can visit Tuba Christmas at Pioneer Courthouse Square, 701 SW 6th St. Portland. 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Free for everyone. |

Christmas at the Oregon Garden in Silverton (47 miles south of Portland) is an outdoor light display of 300,000 Christmas lights. Take the tram to the forest and view a traditional Christmas market with hand-made products, drinks, food, and music. You can visit the Christmas display at the garden Thursday-Sunday, 4pm to 9pm.

Peacock Lane is a small street that offers a very big Christmas light display. The street is south of Stark Street in SE Portland. It is a very popular display of houses with Christmas lights and displays. It is suggested that you walk through it instead of trying to drive. It is open most nights from 6-11 pm.

Spirit of Christmas in Gresham is a free event that celebrates the beginning of the Christmas season. It is held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. There is lots of family fun including presentations, music, food, visits with Santa Claus and the city tree lighting.

The Pittock Mansion is an historic mansion built in 1914. It is important to Portland because of its beauty and its historical value. Every Christmas the mansion is decorated and open to the public. The Pittock Mansion is located at 3229 NW Pittock Dr, Portland.

Wenzel Farm Christmas Fantsy Trail is a walk through a 1000 foot lighted forest with thousands of Christmas lights. Walk through a 40 foot castle with Christmas scenes, a tunnel, maze, crooked house, suspension bridge and more. There is a bonfire every night.
Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland has many holiday events happening throughout December. Check the website for more information about performances and festivals.

Holiday Express Train is a train that takes you through wilderness in the heart of the city. Round-trip rides run from Oaks Park Station through Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge to the Springwater Trail gateway on the Oregon Pacific Railroad.

The Miracle of a Million Lights is a wonderful display of lights on the house and grounds of a Victorian Queen Anne Mansion.
